Bridgeblog ChinaSMACK, which translates poplar post from popular Chinese Internet forums, has two recent entries that reflect nationist sentiments. One reports on reactions to Western reactions to the Chinese government’s rather imaginative “Made in China” campaign designed to improve the poor reputation of “made in China” goods abroad. Another summarizes reactions to Red Dawn 2, a remake of a 1980s Hollywood hit in which the Soviet Union invades the United States (in this version, it is China). The third documents reactions to an interview in which a Peking University student allegedly rebuked a Japanese journalist trying to interview him. All three posts are from Mop, a forum I am not familiar with, and all reflect the usual mix of opinions heavily slanted towards aggressive nationalism.
