Jens Damm on the “Chinascape”

In the spring issue of the Newsletter of the International Institute of Asian Studies, Jens Damm compares Internet use in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China, and concludes that one cannot speak of a single Chinese cyberspace. One notable difference is that Hong Kong and Taiwan users spend much less time on instant messaging than mainlanders, 77% of whom use it (compared to 39% of Americans).
