BBC on BBC ban

On 17 December, BBC had an article on its own Chinese site and that of the VoA having been re-blocked in China after the Olympic un-block.

What is interesting is that Liu Jianchao, the government spokesman, said that if a site refers to Taiwan and China as separate entities, then it violates the anti-secession law.

To my knowledge this is the first time the government described the blocking of particular sites as legal at a news conference; traditionally, they refused to comment.
