Another scandal about German media

Germany’s leading news magazine, Der Spiegel, which has had its share of protests about its title story “The Yellow Spies” last year (and for which it appears none too apologetic), reports a series of attacks on the public German overseas brodcaster, Deutsche Welle, in the Chinese official press and the Internet. Deutsche Welle has suspended the deputy editor of its Chinese service, Zhang Danhong, for making statements deemed overly sympathetic to the Chinese government — such as that the Chinese Communist Party has done more than any other government for the implementation of Article 3 of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights by lifting 400 million people out of poverty. One of the Chinese articles about the affair apparently talks about the return of the Nazi spirit.
